I am obviously aware of the fact that technology reshaped the world to a modern technology age. Computers, gaming consoles, smartphones can provide us with hours of entertainment. Taking all of these into mind, it may seem bizarre that circuses are still popular. The circus can actually can provide different leisure possibilities that technology cannot.
First of all, the circus’ most attractive aspect is that, compared with the electronics we are used to, it seems exotic and unique. Spectating a circus is very different from the stuff we are used to watching and experiencing in our everyday lives. Most of us do not normally get to see lived animals, especially trained ones that perform tremendously, or actual people who dress in funny and original clothes and do various tricks. Centuries ago, circus audiences may have been used to see drastically different shows. In modern times, we have heard of these things by far and have probably even seen them on TV, but we rarely get to see these mind-boggling demonstrations in real life.
Going to the circus and experiencing the said atmosphere is definitely not same as the things we occasionally do. We get to leave our comfort zone and go to a special stadium or circus tent. We are lucky to hear all the sounds and smell all the smells and consume all the special circus junk food that is sold before the majestic performance. It takes us out of our daily experience and transports us for a short while to a different world in a way that TV shows can’t manage to.
All in all, even though we live in a modern world filled with brand new technology, the circus have still something to offer: A special and exciting experience.
