There is an opinion that nowadays individuals are prone to act solely in their self-interest neglecting others feelings as well as worries, due to this fact some people may argue that it would be beneficial for the society to stop this downward spiral by coming back to tradionals beliefs. To my mind, values, such as esteem not only toward person’s close relatives and friends but community overall, may indeed help in constructing a better milieu for everyone’s life. At the same time, I believe that putting self interest as a priority also may lead to human development, particularly bringing a new technologies and discoveries in our world.

On the one hand, returning to the tradional values may catalyse the feeling of respensibility for a local community followed by desire to care about others. A sense of belonging driven by respect for the local commune is crucial in terms of establishing a supportive environment and better world to live in, as it stimulate an accountability for the people you live with. Thus, in more general context, this attitude will pay off with reconciliation of society, where individuals can rely on each other and receive an assistance in case of a problem that has would make the world a more pleasant place.

On the other hand, putting self interest on the first place that often is considered as being greed or selfishness may have a great impact on society development as well. For instance, intelecual property, that is sometimes believed being a form of selfishness, have led to the list of scientifics discoveries. As people’s work is appriciated, this have been serving as an incentive for scientists since they can gain worldwide recognition and money prizes, at the same time those inventions have complementary benefited to the whole society.

To conclude, it can be said that returining to more tradional values may be a turning point in forming an supportive community what definetly has a positve influence on everybody. However, being selfishness at least to some extent also contribute to human development, for example by bringing new technologies to our daily life.
