Tourism brings a lot of fame to the place, as more people visit, it creates the opportunity for a lot of businesses to open. Hospitality industry naturally observes a growth in business. Local vendors also benefit from this, as tourists are always interested in tasting local cuisine. Tourist sites receive attraction and might even get global fame. The traditions and customs will also gain popularity. This will allow the natives to present and spread their culture across the world, it will install a sense of pride within people. It is very beneficial for the culture and traditions that are dying out, tourism can help revive them. Tourism also generates a lot of revenue for the government as the tourists visit historical sites, the local government in return can maintain the upkeep of these historical sites or utilize it to develop the whole village/town/city. People will earn more and will have better lives. Facilities like medicine, fire brigade, police services will be up to the mark and readily available.

Despite these advantages, it is imperative to acknowledge the potential impact on local inhabitants and the environment. It has been observed that as more people visit, the place starts losing its original serenity. As people litter around these places, as they become filthy. Even the forestation is cut down to create more tourist attractions or hotels. The place might start losing its flora and fauna, its natural resources will deplete. The government has a lot of times failed to regulate these tourist places which attract a lot of crowds. Even crime rate starts to rise, as pickpockets want to rob wealthy people who visit.
