International tourism is currently one of the top leading industries in the whole world but some people believe that it causes conflict rather than mutual perception among people. From my standpoint I disagree because tourism helps to broaden the perspective of tourists while experiencing the culture in another country. Moreover, governments should prioritize giving education to tourists about certain practices that are deemed rude and disrespectful so as to avoid conflicts with the local people.
Although we can’t deny that countries may have negative views against each other, tourism could pave the way for tourists to gain a different perspective about a country. Such as in the case of travelers who stayed in another country for some time fearing that they might get discriminated against but have experienced the kindness and hospitality of the locals instead. This could lead to the tourists changing their opinion about this country and ultimately speaking up about the amazing encounter they had when they finally go back to their native land.
While there were many cases of tourists behaving badly, I believe these cases were purely isolated and were only related to the individual personality of the tourist visiting the place. If governments would provide education and briefing to visitors beforehand, informing them about specific behavior that may be considered disrespectful to residents then tourists would know better to behave accordingly showing courtesy to the locals and the community.
In the end, I suppose international tourism strengthens understanding among people from different races. It always benefits people to see and experience a bigger world other than the place they call home. Furthermore, governments ought to emphasize the significance of promoting awareness among tourists to behave properly in the country that they are temporarily paying a visit.
