In this contemporary world, the Internet allows people to access numerous nations worldwide. However, real-life experiences in other countries bring about unforgettable memories and benefits. From my personal standpoint, I concur with the latter statement due to its several advantages.
On one hand, it is undeniable that there are numerous social media channels and TV shows that allow individuals to visualize the outside world. These contents can be valuable sources of information that give people a glimpse of other cultures, but they may not bring the full essence of immersing in a different environment. The face-to-face communication can enhance meaningful relationships that are simply unattainable through a screen, while online information is prone to misformation and outdated contents, which may cause confusions for viewers during their online visits.
On the other hand, hands-on journeys provide human beings unique experiences and familiarity that virtual experiences cannot. Initially, they are opportunities that allow travelers to proactively approach novel cultures and customs. They can directly relish local cuisines, have deeper insight of other countries’ daily lives, as well as traditional norms. Real trips increase individuals’ interactions with foreigners, which potentially stimulate their soft skills, specifically the communication skill. To be more specific, they can form their own opinions and perspectives that are often missed in virtual representations.
In conclusion, although I do agree partly that people are able to travel overseas via social media, it is evident that the advantages of practical journeys outweigh the online ones. Therefore, actual experiences still bring irreplaceable values that are unmatched by online resources.
