These days, the question that whether inventors play more important role in society than medical practitioners has sparked intense debates. While the contributions of inventors are undeniable in terms of technology advancement, I personally believe that the roles of doctors in our society are more worth considering, particularly when unprecedented diseases have spread all over the world.
On the one hand, it is true that thanks to the dedication of scientists and engineers, today’s world has developed significantly. The most noticeable invention should be the introduction of Artificial Intelligence, which has transformed not only the way people live, but also how people work. In the past, to produce a certain product, thousands of workers might be needed, which could boost the labor cost and the manufacturing time to a greater extent. However, today, technological applications in factories have reduced a significant demand on human laborers, which can both enhance the productivity levels and cut down on producing time. In the long run, since manufacturing industries develop, leading to the growth in national economy, all of the citizens will benefit. Moreover, AI has facilitated the way people communicate and interact with each other. Despite the challenges in geographical distance, people now can keep contact with their families and friends, contrasting to the previously time-consuming communication channels like mails. Without inventors with their extraordinary creations, it is definitely difficult to imagine how people work and live today.
On the other hand, I still contend that the importance of doctors and medical staff outweigh those of scientists. First and foremost, to some extent, it is not exaggerating to say what the inventors make is all to make people’s lives better, more convenient. However, without proper treatment of doctors, people even cannot survive, not mentioning enjoying a better life. Furthermore, while the birth of the Internet, social platforms, and other advanced technologies have brought unprecedented opportunities for economy development and globalization, such those inventions also pose significant threats to people, particularly young generations. Currently, numerous studies have proved that constant exposure to online – based platforms, as well as other technological devices such as smartphones, laptops, is the primary cause to a variety of both mental and physical health issues. Children may encounter more challenges to develop critical thinking, language development, or they can suffer from obesity or musculoskeletal system – related problems due to their sedentary lifestyles. Therefore, the contribution of medical practitioners has been valued than ever before, to save our future generations from modern invention – related dangers.
In conclusion, although technologies and other creative products of inventors are crucial, I firmly believe that doctors, nurses and other medical laborers play a more vital part in people’s lives today.
