There is a view that inventors do not hold as much essence in society as doctors do. I do take issue with this view, and try to explain why both of these professions are equally significant in society in the following paragraphs.
On the one hand, inventors are a type of people without whom almost every sector of society suffers a lot. Clearly, the world, in which technology has dominated each field, necessitates a high demand for specialists who drive the progression of this technology. Take the field of healthcare itself. If it were not for inventors, how would the operations such as liposuction or body transplantation be carried out? Statistics prove that cures to most terminal diseases including different types of cancer or plague have been discovered in recent decades thanks to the advances in technology. Therefore, undermining the importance of inventors favoring doctors is completely unjustifiable.
On the other hand, the role that doctors hold in society is also pivotal. This is primarily because, whether technology is involved or not, doctors always stay as life saviors for public. What I mean by this is that although necessary equipment is invented by technicians, the correct use of them is up to how professional doctors are. Moreover, curing is not all about using modern technology, as it mostly requires doctors to be good psychologists, skillful mentors that can interact with patients and motivate them to go back to life. With this healing power, they can awaken patients’ trust in life. Research shows that with a proper consultation by doctors, some patients who are in the twilight of life and death are able to find strength to recover fatal diseases. Briefly, due to some ethical motives, doctors are considered to be an inseparable part of healthcare system irrespective of the developments in technology.
In conclusion, albeit in different ways, inventors and doctors are both of significant importance in society. Upon the special roles they have in communities, it would be unreasonable to say one is superior to another.
