Nowadays, the community is still divided over whether the allocation of resources should focus on early education or higher education. While higher education robustly contributes to the development of individuals, I still believe that an investment in early childhood education will be more beneficial for the growth of individuals
On one hand, it is undeniable that primarily investing in higher education yields substantial benefits for the children’s foundation. Firstly, this approach ensures a high-quality, specialized workforce for the labour market. Universities and colleges equip students with advanced knowledge and a relevant skill set for navigating future workplace challenges, leading to a growth in social economy and innovations. For instance, a robust higher education system is crucial for training students, providing resources for researching and expeditions, which are essential for a country’s development. Secondly, by prioritizing investment in higher education, the country’s competitive ability will be enhanced. Spending resources in university and other higher education environments can generate higher employment rates, leading to improvement in economic standing. For example, a country with strong and stable economic status can withstand wild swing in the global market, becoming an attractive destination for investors.
On the other hand, I claim that the importance of investing in early childhood education should not be disregarded. Investing in early education like kindergarten or primary school is essential for providing students with fundamental knowledge and skills, which is crucial for later development. For example, research consistently indicates that children who participate in effective early childhood programs tend to achieve better academic outcomes and exhibit fewer behavioral issues later in life. Furthermore, a focused early education environment will help children improve their social skills and extend their relationship circle. For instance, Japan, with its popular way of teaching youngsters about qualities and virtue, creates generations with a good personality, friendly and highly-evaluated mindset.
In conclusion, while the benefits of prioritising investment in higher education are notable, the essential focus of resources in early childhood is significant. Therefore, a balanced approach to investing in both early childhood education and maintaining higher education would represent an ideal solution
