Telling a lie is a great sin for pious people. In every relagion book, telling a lie is considered a sin. In this essay, I am going to elaborate on the connection between lies and benefits.
Is it morrally correct to tell lies in doing something beneficial? The answer is yes; it is correct to tell a lie in order to achieve a good purpose. If we search in every relagion book, we can see there is a place for good and bad souls, and if one wants to become a good soul, he is forbidding from telling a lie. How can one become a good soul if his truth causes damage to another soul? Well. Mahabharat has happened in Satyayoug when lying was considered as a great crime, and all of us know Judhistir for his awareness of telling the truth. When the Kuruketro War happened, there was a moment when it became necessary for Pandav to kill Dronocharjo to win the battle, but as Judhistir don’t tell a lie, they had to kill an innocent elephant who had the same name as Dronocharjo’s son to make him weak, which helped them to kill him. As a result, in this lies and truths matter, an innocent animal died. On the other hand, in the 1971 war, we can see that our warriors, who got caught by east Pakistani police, had told lies about their family, warrior friends for their safety. So are they bad people? The answer is no. Undoubtedly, if a lie saves a person, society or even country, then presenting truth there is a crime.
Since we all have our own religious beliefs, we should respect them, but we should not grow blind faith in them, which can cause harm to humanity. So telling a lie can be beneficial for some purpose.
