It is hard for local chain to keep up with the hypermarkets of the urban cities and online shopping. The main issue that can be caused by this competition is a decrease in profit for the owners of the stores in the rural areas and a possible solution is marketing for the tiny stores.
As large supermarkets and on-line shops are attracting all the costumers, the district shops’ owners are facing a decrease in their profits. Majority of people tend to purchase from the urban markets, when they are commuting back from work to home, due to the fact they are wide and have more options and varieties of goods than their communities’ shops. Also, modern technology has introduced the form of online shopping for youth, who are fascinated about, as it is less time-consuming and provide numerous products.
Furthermore, a viable solution that can improve the situation and create a balance in the industry is to raise awareness about the tiny shops through advertisement. Creating posters, competitions, making sales will allure the local citizens of the area. Moreover, this might bring people from various areas as well to take privilege of the sales. A similar thing has been conducted in my hometown; more than one department store made a lottery of wining cars, laundry machines, and scooters for those who exceeds a specific range of paying.
In conclusion, the challenges that the tiny rural markets are going through due to the competence with the massive markets and modern electronic shopping plays a role in falling of the local communities’ incomes, however, this can be addressed by implementing marketing techniques to advertise for districts.
