Some people think that cars and public transport do not have to be used in city centers, instead people should use bicycles to get somewhere. I totally disagree that bicycles could replace these transportations in all places.
Firstly, it should be considered that people need cars and public transport to arrive urgently and safely. Undoubtedly, bikes are not suitable for everyone for long-distance rides or fast reaching. Even ambulances and cars play a significant role in saving human lives. Moreover, trucks are so important to carry goods, heavy items for organizations and supermarkets, also individuals who move from one place to another, which it is impossible for other vehicles to replace this work. For this reason, as bicycles have limited capacity, only bicycle usage can have a notable negative effect on mobility and accessibility.
Another reason why I do not agree with this opinion is the difficulties of cycling for some people. Clearly, not everyone is capable of riding bicycles due to aging, physical and health problems. We should consider the elderly, parents with children as well as patients that prohibition of cars and public transport in city centers may make obstacles for them. Additionally, individuals who live far from downtown can face big challenges to go their work places or universities.
In conclusion, I believe that removal of automobiles and public transportation, conversely will make problems instead of benefits. Whereas, people should use them in a balanced way, taking into account individual’s needs.
