Band 9: It is a natural process for animal species to become extinct (e.g. Dinosaurs, dodos …) There is no reason why people should try to prevent this from happening. Do you agree or disagree?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Many species have gone extinct throughout history, and this is a natural process. However, while some believe humans should not intervene in these events, I largely disagree. I believe that protecting animals is a responsibility that humans bear, as we share a mutually beneficial relationship with them.

To begin with, it is crucial to prevent extinctions, especially since humans have accelerated the decline of many species. We have caused the deaths of various animals through hunting, destroyed their habitats to build homes, and polluted the environment. Many large mammals have vanished due to human encroachment and climate change—issues largely stemming from industrialization. Therefore, we must stop harming animals and their habitats, as every species has a right to exist on this planet. If we continue on this path, we may face a future devoid of many species.

Moreover, halting the extinction of animals, which are invaluable resources, also protects our own lives. We rely on animals for a variety of necessities, especially food. They provide us with essential substances for medicine, assist in various professions, and serve as loyal companions. The loss of animal species can lead to numerous problems in different facets of human life. Additionally, our environment benefits from biodiversity. Every species plays a role in the intricate web of nature, and the extinction of one can have catastrophic effects on the entire ecosystem. This can result in significant issues such as loss of biodiversity and natural imbalances, which ultimately harms human life. Therefore, it is imperative that we protect animals to avert such problems.

In conclusion, while the extinction of certain species is a natural process and some argue that interference is unnecessary, I hold a different perspective. Humans have inflicted various harms on animal populations, and by protecting them, we also safeguard our own future.
