Many college students are advised to live in schools rather than living at home with their parents. This essay strongly agrees with this suggestion for several reasons.
The first argument given to support my opinion is that living in schools cultivates self-reliance. This is because some students often remain dependent on their parents for daily necessities at home, which can lead to a lack of maturity. In contrast, those in a dormitory are compelled to do their work independently. For instance, they must manage personal budgets for daily expenses like bills or necessities. Moreover, they need to develop culinary skills rather than rely on prepared family meals. For these reasons, I think that students inevitably form a stronger sense of responsibility for their own lives.
Another point behind my belief is that living on campus provides unparalleled access to the university’s academic and social ecosystem. Without the distractions of home or a long commute, students can dedicate more energy to their studies. Sharing a living space also offers valuable opportunities to gain insights from peers in various disciplines. For example, roommates are likely to discuss solutions to complex coursework, which directly enhances academic performance. This is why I believe that these daily interactions help students refine their soft skills and gain a deeper understanding of diverse social perspectives.
