Many argue that unambitious job for a living is nowhere near being unemployed. From my perspective, I partly agree with the statement, believing that being jobless is better than working in a menial job while it is concerning in some aspects.
On the one hand, working in an unambitious job can lead to mental and physical suffering. To be specific, mental exhaustion can happen when an individual has to constantly do a job that they are not fully enjoying, which can cause mental disorders in the long run, such as anxiety, stress, or depression. For example, a person who prefers active jobs being forced to do office work, this causes boredom at first but then not only slowly turns into mentally draining as the stress pesists, but also has an adverse effects on the persons’ physical. Additionally, it also has a heavy impact on business since the employees are unmotivated. These individuals’ low productivity affects a whole system, breaking the business working flow and resulting in making low profit. If the solution is not proposed to solve the problem, the business may have to deal with bankruptcy in the long term.
On the other hand, having no job can be beneficial for some individuals since they can spend their time on self-discovery. Specifically, being out of work allows time for individuals to find out their strengths and weaknesses, which encourages self-development. Therefore, they can find out their ambition along with pursuing it without wasting time applying for menial jobs. However, there are some concerns about being unemployed, such as failing to cover living costs, which the person may have a low-quality life, impacting their health in the long term as a result.
In conclusion, I partly agree that being unemployed is better than working a menial job. However, there are some concerns that can have adverse effects, which is health impacting on individuals.
