I definitely agree with the statement that it is better to learn about the way people lived in the past through films and video records than written documents for a range of reasons.
It is no doubt true that films and video records are considered the best method to learn about people’ lives.
First and foremost, it could be argued that films and video records illustrate how individuals lived in the past more realistically and in greater detail than written documents, and it would appear that in films and video records, people are observed inhabitants’ clothing lifestyle, living environment, culture, traditions, and actions; consequently, they can understand the information better and remember it for a longer time. On the other hand, it is well said that written documents demonstrate more accurate and formal information about the previous years, so that people are able to learn about historical events, significant facts, and the characteristics of that period more deeply, but I believe that films and video records present these materials visually, allowing people to understand and remember them more easily.
Another important reason could be thought that films and video records help individuals feel the emotional atmosphere and everyday life of the past more clearly, which is bound to help them develop an emotional connect and make the information they learn more meaningful.
Considering all above the mentioned facts we could sum up that it is understandable that it is better to learn about the way people lived in the past through films and video records than written documents. Therefore, I strongly agree with this view.
