Young age is the most appropriate period in the life of a person to earn the skill to distinguish between good and bad behavior. Some people believe that punishment is unavoidable to teach the difference. I can only partially agree with this argument.
Punishments are helpful to make them understand the consequences of negative conduct and will motivate them adhere with instructions. However, extreme physical torture and emotional attack on child is not acceptable. Now a days, newspapers frequently report articles on toxic parenting which must be discussed in the society. In United States, attacking children are punishable offence and the young ones can file case on the violation of human rights against their guardians.
At early age, children may not grasp the instructions in the first teaching. Positive punishments can be implemented to ensure their personality growth. Soft punishments like denying their favorite toy or television program for a specific period can be experimented. The pupil should be allowed with time to think on the issue as they are getting punished. Instead of harsh reaction, the elders could discuss multiple views of the issue with them politely. Creative punishments like making them do effortless kitchen chores and house cleaning can make positive impacts as these activities will provide them time to digest the seriousness of the wrong side involved in the scenario.
To conclude, it is not the punishment that is to be banned however, the nature of punishment must be chosen with caution to ensure proper growth of young people. Moreover, love and affection must be the tools to be used to train good traits in children.
