There is a common belief that people should take risks in both their jobs and personal lives. While some argue saying it is often too dangerous and there is no guarantee in achieving the intended goals, I believe that advantages such as personal and professional growth and new prospects outweigh them.
Usually, taking risks is seemed to be an action that leads a person to dangerous situations both professionally and personally. At workplace, impulsive decisions without considering their long-term consequences, may cost a person getting sacked from his job. The urge of showing off in front of the colleagues never leads to good results, unless the risky choices weren’t properly discussed and analyzed beforehand. Moreover, taking part in challenging sports such as motor-racing or MMA fights often end up making the sportsman disabled and, in some cases, will be the reason of his death. There is a lot of news about former sportsmen and amateurs who became disabled or died because of the injuries they had during their career and hobbies. Another drawback of risky actions is that there is no guarantee in achieving a desired destination by accomplishing them. Although things are mostly risky by their very nature, the consequences of actions without a serious consideration shouldn’t be ignored, as it is a human’s life and achievements that are at stake. A person cannot make a crucial decision that directly affects his life just by believing in his luck, just like that, one cannot have business with a company that seems too suspicious without a proper investigation, because it may lead to the company’s bankruptcy in the long term.
These drawbacks, however, are far more outweighed by benefits of risky decisions. One of the major advantages of being risky both in professional and private lives is the chance of making unbiased decisions. Nowadays, when the propaganda of different believes and views is ubiquitous and there are fewer chances not to be part of them, creativity and deliberate thoughts are highly valuated, which sets them apart from average people. Being able to hold responsibility and make risks is favoured by the executives and helps a person show his leading abilities earning extra points in front of their colleagues. That is to say, different thoughts in personal life also help people find solutions to problems and make their loved ones happy by not sacrificing their hobbies for things they are not really enjoy. Making kids happy on a daily basis or finding proper resolutions and not blaming others, behaving differently makes a person’s efforts valued and noticed. This kind of approach to taking risks in professional lives and personal lives also opens up many chances to develop and evolve both personally and professionally. CEOs often seek for candidates with strong self-confidence that can help them lead their colleagues in a right path and become a person who they can trust. In personal life, it is highly likely to a person to be the one who can his family members rely one and who can help them in various situations by giving advice that will both help them and cheer them up.
In conclusion, making risks in both one’s private life and career is seemed hide a danger and not always ensures get what a person is aimed for. However, it helps an individual make an unconventional approach and build new opportunities.
