Nowadays, the data have showed a spiking trend in urbanization. Hence, there is an issue about space’s allocation. Some believe that, utillize the maximum functionality of the space e.g. housing are more important than attractiveness e.g park or field. I somewhat disagree in this kind of view.
To answer this question, we have to dive more into urban designers and architects prespectives. Urbanization is significantly correlated with rising populations. The scarcity of space could be major problem related to this issue. While we must priorities the maximum capacity of housing, cities attractiveness playing a same crucial roles that support the good and balance life of the society. Some small cities with limited land as Singapore had become a role model promoting balance between functionality and cosmetics. In Singapore, every buildings had to maintain some portions to serve as public area such as: sky park, jogging track to boost the cities attractiveness and amenities.
The Questions are what would possibly happens, if we didn’t have a good urban planning. While cosmetics and attractiveness often been seen as additive and unnessesary, data showed the opposite. The cities could easily become boring and lack of positive energy. Some study even showed the relation between crime level, happiness and the allocation of greenery space. Lack of this, also could promote unhealthy lifestyle of the citizens.
While there is a challanging issue to maintain balance between space allocation and attractiveness. I highly believe that, city attractiveness play important roles that unnegligible. Futhermore, better urban planning and technology development are crucial to combat this issue.
