Band 4+: It is not necessary to travel to other places to learn the culture of other people. We can learn just as much from books, films and the internet. Do you agree or disagree?

The advancement of technology has empowered information transmit easier and quicker than before. The shift result in that individual can learn the other countries’ culture from books, films and the internet. It provides the opportunity to learn the other countries’ culture in a cheaper way, but I still prefer to immerse yourself in the country which’s culture you want to learn.

The primary advantage of leaning the culture from books, films and the internet lies in a cheaper way. You don’t need to spend money for buying the flight ticket and lodge in other countries. Moreover, you may need to take days off for traveling, it would cause the financial impact. The only things you need to do is advantage in free time to read books or watch films. You are aware of basic knowledge of other countries’ cultures.

However, if you don’t spend the time to visit the countries, you wouldn’t indulge in other cultures. For example, cuisine is an important part of culture. If you just learn the culture from books, you can’t relish the delight cuisine in other countries. Additionally, no matter how vividly describes the scene in books or internet, you can’t see the scene by yourself. Above all, the culture is the way of people live. If you can’t deeply interact with local people or experience the local lifestyles, how to realize the beautiful of cultures.

In conclusion, reading books, watching films or browsing the internet are a good way to know the other cultures. Nevertheless, if you really want be aware of implication of other cultures, you must arrange the travel to the countries.
