Band 8+: It is often said that technology is isolating people. Others argue that technology connects people across distances and cultures. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Many individuals believe that technology significantly impacts how we communicate with others. However, some people argue that it has a negative effect, making individuals feel more isolated and uncomfortable in social interactions. In this essay, I will discuss both perspectives and present my personal opinion on the matter.

Firstly, there are communities that view technology positively and have had remarkable experiences as a result. They find it more efficient and convenient to stay connected with others through online platforms. For example, a daughter studying abroad regularly uses her cell phone to communicate with her parents, allowing them to maintain their close relationship despite the distance. On the other hand, some individuals argue that technology adversely affects people’s lives. These individuals often share negative experiences with online sources, particularly social media and digital applications. For instance, there is a boy who desires various digital items, such as video games and mobile apps. Over time, he isolates himself in his bedroom, spending excessive hours playing online games and using his phone. Consequently, when he attempts to engage with others in person, he feels awkward and uncomfortable.

Both viewpoints highlight different ways of interacting with technology, ultimately depending on individual behavior. The effects of technology are contingent upon whether one uses it wisely or poorly. Personally, I lean towards the positive perspective, as advanced technology offers numerous benefits, contingent on how individuals choose to utilize it. Many people are aware of the positive impact that technology can have. For instance, we can enhance and develop our skills using digital tools like Duolingo, which is an excellent resource for improving language skills and serves as an educational tool for learning.

In conclusion, the community’s arguments regarding technology are less important than our approach to utilizing digital tools. The key takeaway is to use technology wisely, as it can significantly influence individuals based on their behavior.
