Band 7+: it is predicted that future cars, truck, and busses will be driverless, with the only people riding in these vehicles being passengers. do you think the benefits of this developments outweigh the drawbacks?

The future of automotive industry is anticipated to be dominated by autonomous vehicles. While there are some concerns regarding, particularly the safety, this development, this essay embraces this technology, suggesting the potential pros supersede the drawbacks.

The primary worry of the opponents of auto-driving cars is their lack of safety. Concerned parties posit that the dominance of such vehicles on roads is likely to cause a substantial increase in traffic-related injuries and fatalities, as driving safely is a practice too complicated and crucial to be entrusted merely to technology. However, a close examination of the major causes of accidents indicates that human errors account for a significant proportion of road incidents leading to unfortunate financial and life losses. Therefore, the existence of self-driving automobiles will most likely leads to a marked decline in the rate of road casualties.

Another reason why some might be opposed to the implementation of driver-less vehicles is heightened unemployment. These voices fear that the same way utilization of robots on factory floors resulted in great job losses, the introduction of autonomous vehicles, which do not require human driver, renders drivers obsolete, leading to a rise in unemployment rate and all of its ensuing social, financial, and psychological challenges. Conversely, I believe that this development has the potential to yield considerable financial benefits. Firstly, once the need for professional drivers is removed, human drivers will be encouraged to undergo vocational training for more lucrative and sustainable profession, such as mechanics, rather than being stuck in a hazardous and monotonous job like driving.

Furthermore, the transportation industry will also benefit greatly, which has a profound impact on other businesses. Currently, partly, owing to human driver shortages and limitations like illness, fatigue, accidents, and delays, transportation of goods in overly costly and relatively inefficient. Once current vehicles are replaced by the driver-less ones, most these issues can be resolved, leading to the creation of a system which is far more efficient and cost-effective than the the existing one.

In summary, employing autonomous technology in the future is capable of improving road safety as well as the quality and efficacy of services presented by the transportation system, despite worries expressed by those who dread this development, stating that it could result in great life and job losses.
