It is sometimes believed that sharing every details of data in research, business, and academic is necessary because it enables easy access and improvement of certain areas. While this may be true, in my opinion, I believe that some information is too vital and need to be charged for because it not only makes it valuable but also provides economic benefits.
On the one hand, information should be accessible to every individual. The major aim of disseminating information is for the advancement of a particular sector. Therefore, retrieving all the needed information by the public should be made easy. For instance, the result of recent research on the prevalence of cholera was uploaded and made available in strategic places for public consumption as a result of reducing the death rate. In addition, improvement in habits occurs when the right knowledge is obtained through information released after scientific research. However, I do not support this view.
On the other hand, information needs to be accessed at a cost and I agree because the price of acquired data serves as a great reminder to individuals to value it. Moreover, selling important information serves as a form of revenue for the publisher due to the production cost will be recovered. For example, an economist sold the compilation of his work to the public and made double the production cost money. Thus, every piece of information should be limited and sold.
In conclusion, some argue that information should be free of charge to facilitate quick retrieval and improvement. In my view, I believe crucial data needs to be sold at a price because it makes it more valuable and generates income.
