It is sometimes believed that all food for citizens should be manufactured in their own countries instead of importing from other countries. While I understand why some people may oppose this opinion, I still wholeheartedly agree with it for several reasons. Opponents of this view may have several arguments. They may well argue that the quality of some imported food is more outstanding than native food. In fact, each country has exclusive weather conditions and technology to grow vegetables and fruits, which allow these plants to thrive and have good products, that cannot be found anywhere else. However, i believe that this issue can be solved in the future when new technologies in agriculture and industry are introduced every year.
Nevertheless, I still agree with the production of everything that their inhabitants might possibly consume, for the protection of native products and the cost of food. When the government restricts importing food, this is beneficial to domestic companies and farmers. The explanation for this is that citizens more often consume local vegetables, fruits, and other food, which are helpful to the profit of producers. As a result, they will have a opportunity to develop and expand the size of farms and companies, therefore helping the economic development. The second reason is that the cost of food will decrease. The price of meals , which have food manufactured in countries, will not include the fee of transportation, the tax of exporting and importing , and others, which means that these meals are cheaper. This allows low income people to access healthy and delicious food. For instance, the grape, a healthy fruit not having in Vietnam, was grown in some south provinces in the 90s. This action had declined the prices of this nutritious fruit, which allowed Vietnamese to eat this fruit more frequently.
In conclusion, it is understandable why some may not support the idea of the generating all the food required for their civilians. However , I still strongly agree with this suggestion given the aforementioned reasons.
