Many people believe that social media friends are not real friends. While, the others claim that online friendships still have several benefits. In my opinion, online friends have both advantages and disadvantages.
To begin with, online friendships can offer significant benefits. Firstly, they allow for connections across distances, enabling people to meet others with similar interests or experiences that they might not meet in their immediate surroundings. In addition, online friendships can provide vital support, especially for introverted individuals in creating more chances to interact with society.
However, online friendships can lack the depth and closeness often found in face-to-face communications. Without nonverbal cues and physical presence, connections might feel more superficial, and the potential for misunderstandings increases. Moreover, the nature of social media can lead to an increase in the cybercrime rate. For instance, the crime can take advantage of one’s belief, pretend to be a friend and cheat person out of money by persuading that one to buy any item.
In conclusion, both forms of friendship can be meaningful, but they fulfill different needs. Balancing online interactions with face-to-face relationships can lead to a richer social experience, in which both types of connections enhance our lives in unique ways.
