According to some, social media friends are not considered real friends. In my opinion, it has both sides, like good and bad. I partially agree with this opinion.
It is true that social media friends can not be as real-life friends. It has been proven that they are not even close in some aspects to real friends. The first thing that lacks is loyalty. Without any proof, everybody knows that online friends seem to be part-time friends or friends for their personal purposes.
From my own experience, I have several social media friends, and they are made by playing games or in some kind of platform. Additionally, most of the friends who are on social media have not seen each other not only in real life but also in video chats too. The worst thing I can say about this type of friend is that they will not help you at other troublesome moments.
On the other hand, having friends from different backgrounds helps to know more about the world and life. The favorable thing about online friendships is flexibility. This type of friendship can fit into busy schedules more easily than face-to-face meetings. Additionally, communicating with the people from different backgrounds can broaden one’s understanding of the world. Moreover, social media allows individuals to communicate with people around the globe who have similar interests, hobbies or life experiences. This may absolutely help those who are isolated from people and for introverts.
In conclusion, online friends cannot replace real ones. I believe that social media friends will enrich everyone; however, there are also demerits to this kind of friendship.
