Whether young learners segregrating based on their grades has been a hot debated. I firmly agree on the opinion that mixed classes and equal allocation of resources may not be the most effective way but most necessary. There are two sides of this coin, in one way it could aid in teaching and giving individual attention to the kids according to their IQ level, whereas the downside could be it would host unhealthy competition among bright students and also promote premature judgement over peers who are lesser ingenious.
Firstly, each child is unique and teaching them through a democratic approach wont bring out the best in them.whereas grouping them would make it easier to provide resources corresponding to their Intelligence levels. For instance, china has been following this approach and has produced highly remarkable students across decades. However, the darkside is the unsettling competition which leads to stress and depression among the graduates. Moreover , due to inadequate communication among other class of students ,it would evolve a biased attitude proliferating the social division.
Secondly, adopting a mixed approach could only benefit if it is made to ensure that resouces are allocated proportionately or else it could be a violation of human rights. Ranking young minds based on their intelligence is substandard, also depriving the oppurtunities of obtuse is even worse. As the quote says’ You cant judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree’. Although study suggest that intelligent kids would still perform better even if they are made to sit in a diverse classroom. It would also motivate the weaker kids to forge ahead.
To conclude, the purpose of education is to transform lives to become individuals, attending elite cluster would not be an effective approach in shaping future minds. Hence, schools should assure to include a diverse, panoptic and felicitous environment for all.
