Nowadays discussions regarding the separate learning classes for students with different cognitive abilities are gaining momentum. Some people are completely convinced that all children should be divided into groups by their grades and academic performance, whereas others believe that all pupils should attend lessons together, no matter what results and achievements they get. In my opinion, children should be assigned to different groups, as there will be more possibilities for students striving to achieve the PhD in a certain scope.
First of all, people tend to think about their own children, while choosing the way of their future learning process. This is the main basis for giving priorities to their children to study in specific classes reflecting their abilities and supplying them with more possibilities to develop their general knowledge as well as their chosen academic field. It means that the human factor plays a big part in parents’ decisions.
Child, attending lessons which are appropriate and prepared especially for his level of cognitive development, feels more comfortable and confident among students with the same level of intelligence.
On the other hand, belief in combined lessons also takes its place. Thoughts about social equivalence encourage parents to prioritize standard-program classes for their children. They assume that children facing challenges as a decreased academic performance in comparison with others will cause them to study harder and achieve more. That can be true, but it also has to be counted that not all teachers are ready to pay more attention to certain students, their job requires only material explanations and after they heard that everything is clear from extremely wise students they continued without involving in the work of less performing children. If this problem is going to be solved somehow in the future this way of studying will develop greatly.
In conclusion, parents should approach with responsibility for their children’s future lives which straightforwardly depend on their academic knowledge, acquired at school. I am sure that separate lessons are more effective and reliable due to the fact that everybody obtains knowledge at the pace they want.
