Education is a crucial period in everyone’s life. However, different people have different capabilities to perform academically. That is why certain people believe that more intelligent students should be taught separately. While others argue that everybody should study together. Personally, I stick to an opinion of the first group. Below I will elaborate on my idea.
To start with, common syllabus for both types of students would hinder development of gifted ones. Exceptional students could find lessons rather tedious because they are already familiar with these tasks and information. Moreover, they would not have a chance to deploy their skills solving challenging problems or to study material of increased complexity. This negligence of more capable children will result in gradually wasted talent and squandered opportunities making them average-level students.
The solution of this problem is providing everyone with an opportunity to study in special educational establishments for top-performing and talented students. Everyone who excel in ordinary school can write an exam and enroll to more prestigious one with advanced syllabus. For example, in Moscow this strategy is perfectly implied because there is an abundance of schools offering high-level education in various fields from exact science to humanities. In addition, these students have better preparation for domestic exams and therefore increased chances to get to the top-ranked universities in Russia or abroad.
To summarize, without separation, skills and abilities of more intelligent students may stagnate or even decrease due to a surfeit of simple material and tasks meant for low-performing peers. That’s why their separation is vital for them.
