Driverless cars have become increasingly common over last decades and improve the driving experience. While some argue that autonomous driving technology should be strictly controlled, I believe that this trend has positive influences on the overall society.
Undoubtedly, driverless cars still face many significant problems which disturb them to be widely used. First of all, the technology and skills are not as robust as people consider, it is difficult for driverless cars to deal with complex issues, such as unclear traffic signal, pedestrians and crowded traffics. In most countries, drivers are not permitted to drive a car without human control, even the car equips autonomous driving systems. Additionally, it is hard to determine the legal responsibility while a driverless car involved in an accident. Both the driver and the technology provider may response to the accident, which require carefully detection and data to judge.
On the other hand, driving could be a really physical demand work, especially long distance driving. Autonomous driving can offer opportunities for drivers to relax and unwind during driving, which can help drivers focus on complicated situations. Also, autonomous driving systems can prevent drivers from the hurt of some potential accidents, especially when drivers are distracted by other things. Furthermore, associating accurate map technology with driverless technology can significantly improve traffic efficiency. For instance, we can use accurate map to plan routes, and driverless cars for transportation, which could not only reduce the number of drivers and also mitigate traffic congestion.
In conclusion, although there are several challenges to promote driverless technology more widely, I contend that driverless technology could contribute to more comfortable driving experience positively impact the transport productivity
