There is a common belief that it is more practical to punish all crimes in the same way such as people who are convicted of murders or theft. However, others , including me personaly on the side towards considering circumstances when it comes to judgement, as minor and large-scaled crimes should not be treated equally because they differently damaged society and victims.
On the one hand, supporters of equal judgements may hold the view that it would make the justice system more quicker and more efficient, as judges would follow particular estblished rules for anyone instead of spending excessive time deciding on appropriate punishments for similiar cases. Furthermore, this approach also indespensable way to avoid delays in court and wold save extra time to look through next cases. Take for example, in two similar cases about robbery and shoplifting, differentiated by amount of money which was stolen, the crimers can be sentenced to the same number of years for theft, regardless of unnecessary discussions whether they deserve it or not. Thus, punishing system could be easier to follow and people could be aware of conditions they might expect if they commit illegal actions.
On the other hand, it is noteworthy that throughout explorations combined with consideration of all circumstances can ensure fairness of judgement, as the amount of damage and scale of crime and the age of crimer play significant role in case of punishing. Cases such as pickpocketing, petty theft of vandalism should be considered as a minor crimes as they they can be fixed or compensated in a short period of time, while serious crimes namely as murder, terrorism or trade of drugs couldn’t be compensated because they can affect essentially to society. For instance, a teenager who stealed a smartphone from a store and an adult who robbered a bank can not be judged in a similar way as the former one can be chaperoned and return the stolen phone back, and the latter one should be obligated to compensate damages to the building and sentenced to long years in prison, as it insures fairness and trust to court.
In conclusion, the policy of the same punishment for all illegal actions facilitates the process of decision, different approach to all types of crimes according to the amount of damage and age of crimer can ensure fully fairness and trust to the authorities, as unfair judges may result in massive protests.
