Some people believe that it will be faster if all crimes have the same types of punishment; however, others believe that this decision is not a good way because there are different levels of crime. I believe both views have positive and negative impacts for the judges, the victims, and the criminals.

Having the same punishment for all criminals will make the judgement processes easier and faster because the judges will not be confused and do not have to spend more time to deciding the punishment. However, it will not be equal for all victims and all criminals due to the same treatment for all types of crime. For instance, criminal with case related to thief will be treated the same as criminal with case related to murder, in which both conditions should be have different levels of crime. Murder that should be above 5 years punishment in jail will be treated the same as thief that normally has 1 year punishment. This situation is unfair for the murder case’s victim because they are lost someone due to murder case.

By contrast, having different punishment for different types of crime will be fairer for both criminals and victims. Those that should be punished harder and longer will get their penalizing fairer. Furthermore, the victims will get their justice especially for those with heavy cases. However, it is indeed take longer time in the processes because the judges will need to reviewing and deciding about their crime level and punishment that suitable based on the circumstances that are happened.

In short, I believe both have positive and negative impacts. However, I am more likely to agree with those who think we have to give different punishment based on their circumstances because it would be fairer for all the people.
