“It’s the possibility of having a dream come true that makes life interesting.”

-Paulo Coelho

Similar to Paulo Coelho in his book, The Alchemist, I have always believed that working towards a dream and making it come true is what makes life more interesting and worthwhile. From a young age, I have had the habit of dreaming of things that I want to accomplish over a time period. From joining PSG-Tech, one of the most highly-reputed colleges in India, to working at a multinational company, many celebrated accomplishments of mine started as dreams. I have always made sure to give my best efforts at making what I dream about a reality.

As a boy with thousands of dreams to aspire to, anything that relates to the field of technology fascinated me. As a high school student, I was enthralled by all the stem courses that were taught to me. With the help of my mentors, I was able to participate in different programming and statistics workshops, real-time insight enlightened me. My inquisitiveness fuelled my desire to pursue Information Technology as my major in college since this would not only help me dive deeper into this concerned domain but also enhance my exposure to various fields.

I was able to acquire significant skills during my first year, including programming, data analysis, and analytical skills, etc. In my Sophomore year, I took a course on Java programming and to deepen my knowledge I worked on my applications, as a result, I helped my peers develop an E-application for my college’s research industry. The goal was to manage and manipulate data. This project bagged a strong acclamation from my college. I also got an opportunity to do an internship with Samsung on a 4G/5G Intelligent Mobility Target Cell Allocation in which I developed an algorithm to reduce the number of handovers between cell towers. My internship in Samsung was on the whole an empowering experience and set forth a great learning opportunity. It was the information security course in my final year that shot up my curiosity and has been my favorite ever since.

I equipped myself with skills like problem-solving and time management while working on these

projects and internships. To hone my knowledge, I signed up for elective courses like Python programming and big data analytics. I was self-motivated to explore new challenges, and I did courses on machine learning and deep learning on my own. These online training courses gave me a better understanding and new vision towards my subject area and also motivated me to work on projects such as “silent speech decoding using EEG Brain waves” and “automatic brain tumor detection using neural networks” in my final year.

I was able to land a position as a software development engineer with a top company, Verizon, thanks to the experiences I gathered while working on these projects. I was part of a team on developing an application for technicians worldwide to maintain and repair the company’s network. I directly interacted with product owners from onshore countries to accumulate technical requirements. This helped me understand how the project worked in real time, and as a result, I was able to come up with effective solutions. Apart from the work I have also participated in several organization-level hackathons for improving security and usability of the applications. Impressed with my ability to assimilate well in a short period, I was offered a promotion. This encouraged me to continue learning and work harder.

In addition to my coursework, I regularly participated in campus activities and club events, which significantly improved my social skills. I was part of the Entrepreneurs Club, the Global Leaders’ Forum Club and I have been a part of the organizing teams for numerous national-level events, including the Model United Nations and TEDx. This helped me in sharpening my leadership skills and my potential to take up responsibilities.

As a person who is very concerned about being socially responsible, I have participated in many

A course dedicated to Artificial Intelligence will help me expand my previous knowledge on the subjects it includes. Through this exposure and the world-class training offered at Northeastern University, I will be ready to take up industry-level challenges. The USA hosts the best universities and is home to most mega-companies around the globe. I strongly believe that studying in the USA will be a highly rewarding experience that will have a positive impact on my career and also my personal development.
