In this time of rapid development of information technology, the Internet undoubtedly allows people to cross the time and space to carry out continuous communication, in this context, the way of education has also been unknowingly completed the change, in my opinion, although people have ability to learn through the Internet, but face-to-face speech is essential.
The most important reason for me to continue to support face-to-face teaching is the good learning environment, it is possible that this problem can be solved in the future under the support of VR technology and artificial intelligence, but at the current level of human development, I don’t think that online teaching can bring students a good learning environment, on the downside, the probability of online learning at home or even in bed is not efficient. Another point that cannot be ignored is the students’ self-control ability, in the network environment full of entertainment, many people will start to lose themselves, and face-to-face teaching can be a good solution to this problem, teachers can give supervision, classmates can give pressure, so that a virtuous circle can be formed.
Face-to-face teaching is not just about providing a good learning environment; classroom interaction, group discussions and face-to-face communication can be stimulating, while at the same time learning how to interact with people. Learning how to communicate correctly and efficiently is an important part of being able to enter society, and is an essential skill for people to have as social creatures. Last but not least, teachers can react quickly to the different facial expressions and gestures of each student in the classroom, and I believe that more teachers and students are willing to have face-to-face teaching than teachers getting timely feedback from students in each small electronic window.
Of course I’m not trying to deny the contribution of technology and the internet to education in its entirety, because with the internet, this has allowed more students who are unable to travel to a real school for long and effective learning due to a lot of objective factors such as physical ailments, financial situation or distance from the school to have the opportunity to learn, and this has allowed them to go and learn about the world without having to actually travel to a different place.
In conclusion, although the internet has made a remarkable contribution to different areas of human development, I still believe that in the very important area of education, the internet is not a 100 per cent substitute for face-to-face teaching or lecturing, so access to a real and dynamic classroom is crucial.
