Nowadays, there are more cases of teenagers committing a crime than it used to be. Some people think, that to solve this issue, adolescents who decide to break the law should receive an adult punishment. But before taking any actions, people have to figure out the reasons of the problem.
Well, the first, but not the main cause is a lack of understanding of the value of life. Most of the teenagers these days have never faced real troubles, so they do not know that life can be ruined very easily. Unfortunately, some kids may get that knowledge only when they are sentenced to life imprisonment. In my opinion, to make young people appreciate their life, they do not have to be hidden from “scary” things like death and crime, for them to know that life is not that “sweet”.
The more serious reason is aimless pastime. If a youth boy has to study, do sports and attend other extracurricular activities, he will have no time to do something bad. That is why there should be more various, interesting and useful ways for teens to spend time. Also the amount of crimes, committed by kids, would lessen if parents payed more attention to what their child does while he is not at school.
Finally, the major cause, in my view, is a mild punishments for teenagers. In adolescence, people often feel absolutely free and independent. They think they are allowed to do everything. And not getting punished properly after breaking the law will strengthen their sense of permissiveness.
In conclusion I would like to say, that people of all ages should be punished the same way for the same crime.
