Band 4+: Maintaining public libraries is a waste of money since computer technology can replace their functions. Do you agree or disagree?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

There are a argument that maintaining public libraries is money-consuming while computer and internet can replace their functions. To my view, I totally agree with this statement.

Firstly, computer can replace the traditional libraries because it is more convenient and accessible. Internet is a wide online platform that it can contains many information and knowledges. There are many learning resources for student, like Zoom and Microsoft Team, or for office workers such as Excel and Words. The most convenience is that you can learn anything at anytime that you want. For example, a student who want to improve his mathetic skills can access to Youtube and watch a video to know how to solve that problem instead of applying for a extra math class or arriving to libraries and finding many books just to solve a problem.

Secondly, parents can keep an eye on their children to avoid being affected by bad things. To clear this statement, take my brother as an example. He was a good and excellent boy, but he used to go to the near-home library and tell my parents he studied with his friends, but I found out that he just hang out with a bad friend. After that, my parents force him to study at home by a computer. Then he became better and recovered his good marks. So that, some kids can tell their parents a lie that.

they arrive to the library but they’re not, so studying at home with a computer may a good choice for parents to avoid their children going wrong way in their life. Last but not least, computers also play a vital role in entertaining. In nowadays world, many people may experience a hard job and stressful daily routine. When they bring their anxiety and come to library to read a book, with some people they will be overloaded and burn out. So that with a computer which contains many entertaining platforms like Youtube, Spotify or even gaming websites like PUBG and movies website like Netflix, they can reduce human stress and give them a relax time to recharge their batteries.

In conclusion, many people claim the view that maintaining public libraries is money-consuming as computer technology can replace their functions. I am convinced that this statement is true and repeat one more time, internet is more convenient and accessible for everyone.
