It is sometimes believed that public libraries are no longer necessary because computer technology can replace their functions. This essay totally disagrees with this suggestion for several reasons.
The first argument given to support my opinion is that public libraries provide a better environment for studying. The reason for this is that libraries are usually quiet and well-organised places where students can focus on their studies without being distracted by social media, games or other activities. As a result, they can concentrate better and spend more time on their academic work. For example, student can go to a library to prepare for exams, read books or do their homework in a peaceful environment. Therefore, public libraries are still useful for students and can support their learning effectively.
Another point behind my belief is that public libraries ensure equal access to knowlegde. This allows everyone to afford a computer, expensive books or internet connection, especially people from low-income families. As a consequence, libraries give these people an opportunity to use computers, read books and access useful information for free or at a low cost. For instance, a student from a poor families can use a library computer to search for information and study online without having to pay for these facilities. Consequently, public libraries can reduce the gap between people from different financial backgrounds and provide more equal education opportunities.
i totally disagree that public libraries are no longer necessary because they provide a better environment for studying and ensure equall access to knowledge.
