Some people believe museums and galleries should be the place for local artists to exhibit their art without including works from international craftsmen. I agree with this statement and I will explain in this essay.
On the one hand, people think to prioritize local artisans to show their creativity in their hometown museums and galleries because it is one of the ways artists get recognized from audiences. For example, tourists travelling to Bali often explore traditional culture, which the tour-guide may arrange their itinerary to visit local galleries. Moreover, the tourists might be interested in the artwork from local artists and purchase. Local crafters may earn income from the tourism sector. Therefore, art space for local artists is important, not only to show creativity, it might boost the country’s economy from the tickets and taxes after purchasing items in the galleries.
The other reason is there are many museums for home-grown artists that can lead people who have creativity to show their results. Additionally, it can encourage new craftsmen to have interest in creative ways. For instance, Alipjon, a popular illustrator from Indonesia, shows his artwork in a local gallery, and many students regularly visit his space to find inspiration. Consequently, the artist inspires people to create their own art based on the works that influenced them. As a result, new local talents are born and it may help create awareness for their country internationally through creativity.
In conclusion, other groups think having local museums and galleries is a must to exhibit local artists even though showing the art from international craftsmen. Furthermore, it leads to profit and popularity for the countries. I strongly agree with this statement because through local art space we can contribute and respect the artwork from artists, and creating art such as painting is not cheap because they need to spend a lot of money, time, and creativity to create it.
