Globalization has a significant impact on fashion trends. In my humble opinion, there are more negative aspects to this issue than positive ones.
One advantage of global trends on the way people dress is that more individuals worldwide are opting for comfortable clothing. For example, it is common to see people on the streets of London wearing the same T-shirts and trousers as those in Tokyo. Globalization has allowed people to discover an ultimate way of dressing for comfort.
However, there are numerous examples that highlight the negative side of this phenomenon. The most prominent issue is the loss of national identity. Fashion trends often make people look identical. The popularity of social media platforms contributes to this, as certain clothing items become extremely recognizable, while the tendency to wear national attire is declining. For instance, in Uzbekistan, many young people are choosing to dress in a more American or European style, abandoning their traditional clothing. This trend is observable in several other countries as well. If this continues, national clothing may soon become a relic of history. Additionally, global fashion trends change extremely rapidly, meaning that even if someone purchases the most fashionable attire today, something else might become more popular tomorrow. This leads to an increasing number of people wasting money on clothes regularly.
In conclusion, while there are positive aspects to this issue, such as convenience in how people dress, spending too much money on fast-changing trends and losing cultural identity are significant drawbacks. Personally, I believe that the cons of this issue outweigh the pros.
