Most of today’s clothing styles are heavily driven by global fashion trends. One possible explanation for this phenomenon is the way people desire to be seen as a part of society through imitating the style of clothing that the majority wear. One negative implication of this situation is t hat people might be feeling constantly exhausted from following the rapidly changing fashion trends.
Global fashion trends can affect individuals’ way of living because they categorize society into classes that are based on their fashion type. The individual’s need to be part of a group explains why many of them are trying so hard to fit into the global fashion standard. Moreover, social judgement towards people who wear untrendy clothes also fuels people’s motivation to follow certain fashion rules. For instance, famous people might influence their followers to dress the same as them, and the fans will do it in order to be similar to their idols.
Therefore, I believe that global fashion trends negatively impact the society. Although it is understandable that fashion style might play a role in connecting people because of the sense of similarity between them, it also puts a continuous burden on people to always follow the trend to be accepted by their surroundings. Moreover, it wastes a lot of money to frequently purchase new clothes and put aside the ones that are no longer considered trendy, not to mention the mental pressure that people might experience when they don’t dress the same.
In conclusion, wearing fashion items that are globally trending is a habit that many people possess. This might be due to people’s desire to be categorized with the majority or people that they admired. However, I consider this habit negative because it tends to put pressure on people by taking a lot of their money in order to do the habit as well as the difficulty of wearing a comfortable personal choice of clothing.
