There is a common debate in society regarding the issue of success in sport, which poses the question of what is more important being talented or hardworking. I firmly believe that decent results at a sport is a huge effort and plenty of time spent.
Some people claim that if the sportsmen does not have a talent, he will never achieve great results. This can be true especially in some sport spheres, which require special characteristics of the body. For example, such direction as sport gymnastics will be unsuitable for a person with extra weight or height, whereas basketbal sportsmen should be higher, than ordinary humans. These requirements reflect the fact that being talented (with specific height and weight) is more vital comparing with hardworking. As a result, even draining exercises may not lead to the expected result, if the person does not have special inner parameters.
Others believe that being hardworking is more important rather than being talented. They claim that a talent can be easily lost (because of the illness, for example), while thanks to a hard work a person will receive expected results.Nowadays, there are lots of talented figure skaters, especially in Russia. The great example is Yulia Lipnitskaya, who was fighting for the place on The Olympic Games several times. If she was not hardworking, she may not even participate in such competitions, she may gave up lots of times. Thanks to her har work and ability to mobilize her strengths she finally won the gold medal.
I am convinced that such quality as hardworking is more important in comparison with talent. If the person is talented, there is no guarantee to be successful in sport because of being lazy, whereas, hardwork will lead to the high results because of the effort and lots of attempts. I believe that hardwork has more chances to be rewarded by the universe.
In conclusion, it is clear, that peoples’ opinions are divided into two parts: while one group believe that sport results are connected with being talented, others say that it is a result of hard work. For me it is obvious, that talent may be lost, while a hardworking person will achieve more decent results.
