In this modern era, number of people argue that individuals should choose a career which is based on their passion. While others opine that the main purpose of work is just to earn money for daily needs. This essay will discuss both viewpoints before reaching to a conclusion.
To commence with, following a passion in career has various positive results. Firstly, if a person works in the field he likes, then he never feel bored and give more productivity. For example, one who loves teaching can become a good lecturer because he enjoys the job rather than doing it forcefully. Secondly, passion based careers provide inner satisfaction which is very important for mental health. In other words, earning may come less but happiness and peace of mind is higher.
On the other hand, there are strong arguments in favour of the idea that career is just a way to livelihood. Firstly, in this competitive world, not everyone get chance to do the work they love. Therefore, they have to select a job which provide them financial stability. For instance, many engineers in developing countries work in different fields only because they need money for survive. Apart from this, passion sometimes not guarantee high income, so it is risky to rely only on interest.
After pondering over a great deal of thoughts, it seems to me that although doing a work based on passion makes life more enjoyable, it is not possible for everyone. Therefore, I believe career should be a balance between passion and earning so that people can achieve both financial security and personal satisfaction.
