Modern medicine has made significant progress in preventing childhood diseases from happening by developing various vaccines. The issue of whether to force parents to vaccine their children has been a highly debated topic, as many argue that government should not decide what people do to their own kids. This essay will discuss both viewpoints on vaccines before reaching a conclusion.

To begin with, a good portion of people say that vaccination has to be enforced by law, so that the spread of dangerous illnesses can be cut at its root. The main reason for this opinion is the fact that in modern times disease-prevention is much more effective than the actual process of curing a sick individual. This point is well illustrated by a quite recent study done on COVID-19, where the researchers reached a conclusion that the vaccinated people spent not only less money but also less time and resources on dealing with this disease than those who refused vaccine.

However, the law of vaccination has many detractors, who argue that making people vaccinate on a legislative level is too harsh and the government should only give recommendations regarding this topic. This is mainly substantiated by the fact that there could be numerous chemicals in vaccines, which can result in people, especially kids, having an allergic reaction. In my personal experience, I have met a girl, who was highly allergic to the majority of required vaccines in her childhood. This made her parents face a lot of judgement and misunderstanding from certain medical professionals or even strangers.

Ultimately, this way of preventing illnesses is definitely something more people should do, and, in my opinion, it ought to be enforced on a governmental level, as it has a number of significant benefits. At the same time, there should be a way for individuals to refuse it for medically proven reasons.
