In this day and age, various enterprises decide to donate their financial sources for sports to advertise their brands. However, some individuals believe that it brings several merits to sports, while the opponents are of the claim that this contains a myriad of demerits. In this essay, I would evaluate both two schools of thought above before showing my perspective about this topic.
On the one hand, there are numerous rationales why people think sponsoring sports is beneficial for sport’s world. Firstly, thanks to the sponsorship from brands, sport tournaments have more investment for organising more professionally. This is because, the costs for helding a competition are not friendly-budget, so when receiving investments will provide money for organizations to cover partly. Additionally, sponsorship may help some special athletes, who have poor socio-economic backgrounds, can express their talents comfortably without any financial burden. Around the world, there are many talents buried by the poor because they do not have enough money to cover fly tickets and tournament fees, so it leads to the lack of idealistic environment. In Africa, for example, there are various potential athletes who still cannot cover their daily basis and improve standard of living. However, many African athletes can compete for their naition due to enterprise’s investment.
On the other hand, some people are of the claim that sponsorship are disadvantageous for various reasons. Because most of companies just want to advertise their brands, so they also have the tendency to take care about whether their brands become well-known or not insteads of paying attention to the quality of tournaments and audience’s emotions. Thus, it directly prompt fierce backlashes because of the disappointment of viewers. Furthermore, if surroundings are made up by advertisements, both athletes and audience may be distracted by chance insteads of watching and enjoying captivating matches. Also, this is one of the primary rationales causing the degradation of match’s quality and make symbol of sports become worse on the other’s eyes.
In conclusion, although both these schools of thought can show their persuasiveness, I personally think that whether sponsorship from enterprises may bring benefits or not will rely on case-by-case basis. Sponsorship may help mitigate financial burden on athletes; nevertheless, it also may bring the distraction due to the appearance of advertisements on the spur of moment
