Positive And Negative

Band 7+: Many developed countries are facing the challenge of an ageing population. Is this a positive or negative trend? What measures can be taken to address the challenges of an ageing population?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Nowadays, many developed countries have a growing number of elderly people. This essay will discuss whether this is a positive or negative trend and suggest some possible solutions to deal with the issue.

On the one hand, an ageing population can bring several problems to society. First of all, there will be fewer young people working, which can slow down economic growth. Governments will also need to spend more money on healthcare and pensions for older citizens. As a result, working people may have to pay higher taxes. In addition, there might be a shortage of workers in some important sectors, such as education and healthcare.

On the other hand, older people can still make positive contributions. Many of them are experienced professionals who can share their knowledge with younger generations. Retired people also have more free time for volunteering, which can help communities. To manage the situation better, governments could raise the retirement age and encourage people to stay active for longer. Moreover, promoting healthy lifestyles from a young age can help reduce medical costs in the future.

In conclusion, although an ageing population causes some difficulties, it can also bring benefits if societies adapt properly. Governments and individuals should work together to make sure elderly people remain active and independent

Money, these days, has become the main priority for the younger generation when choosing their future jobs. Some people believe that public health within a country can be improved by government making laws regarding nutritious food. Others however think that health is a matter of personal choice and responsibility. Discuss both the views and give your opinion.

Nutritious foods have been growing as a strong thread in the healthcare fabric of society, with some supporting mandating choices of such foods to make strides in public health. Other, however, point to individual liberty in this domain. While the latter belief does have some reasonable grounds, I believe the former bears greater weight. The […]
