Band 6+: Many governments have laws that ban the sale and use of hard drugs such as heroin and cocaine, yet they allow people to buy drugs such as tobacco and alcohol. Laws that prohibit the sale and use of hard drugs should be applied to all drugs, including tobacco and alcohol. What is your opinion?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Many countries around the world have prohibited the trade and intake of hard drugs like heroin and cocaine but not on drugs like alcohol and tobacco. Although, the majority might believe that restriction should be enforced to a certain extent and a stringent government is not appreciated, i disagree. I believe that every drug that can cause severe harm or addiction should be banned.

Tobacco and alcohol can have many side-affects when addicted to it. For example, addicts tend to suffer with dehydration, increase in heart-rates and metabolic imbalance in their body which is hard to be recovered from. Moreover, These affects can exacerbate when it is taken larger amounts, leading to cancer, heart attack, alcohol poisoning etc. The government has given allowance for such trades and later developed rehabilitation centers for addicts. It is similar to creating a problem and providing a solution for it. This leads to nothing but downfall in the economy of the country as well. As they say, precaution is always better than cure. Additionally, death rates have significantly increased over the past few decades due to the consumption of these products.

Having said that, Laws that exercise prohibition of these supplements will surely have a positive impact on the upcoming generations. Firstly, the use of alcohol can be permitted by the government in the medical sectors as it is an important substitute in conducting various operations but must forbid any sort of dealings regarding these drugs. Secondly, media can also play a major role in spreading awareness about the detrimental effects of using such substances. Proper rehabilitation centers can be developed for the people suffering with addiction after the initial stages of executing the law.

In conclusion, I would like to state that, drugs that prove to be inimical to human body must be stated illegal in order to decrease the mortality rate. Acknowledgement of the side-affects caused by these intoxicants is important in the society to maintain salubrious life. Overall, this helps in increasing the life-expectancy of a person.
