Band 8+: Many graduates nowadays are finding it difficult to get a job. Why do you think this is? How can this problem be solved?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

In today’s job market, numerous graduates are facing significant difficulties in obtaining jobs. I will discuss the different reasons behind this phenomenon and suggest possible solutions to tackle this problem.

The primary reason why graduates struggle to secure jobs is the intense competition they encounter. Millions of university graduates enter the job market each year across various disciplines. However, the number of job openings does not correspond to the growing pool of job seekers. For instance, over 1 million students graduated from universities in Vietnam in 2023, yet only 600,000 new jobs were created. This imbalance between job seekers and graduates forces them to compete for the same positions, making it challenging for individuals to stand out. Additionally, students often lack practical experience because universities prioritize theoretical knowledge, leaving graduates ill-equipped for real-world challenges. Employers tend to favor candidates with diverse practical skills or relevant work experience.

To address these problems, several solutions can be implemented. Firstly, universities should organize comprehensive career development programs that focus on personal branding and skill enhancement. This can help students identify their unique skills themselves in the competitive job market. For example, universities can arrange workshops on creating effective resumes, marketing techniques, and how to deliver professional presentations. Another possible solution is for universities to strengthen partnerships with businesses. By collaborating with industries and companies, universities can provide students with internships and practical training opportunities. This real-life experience can equip students with the skills and confidence necessary to adapt to various work environments, ultimately boosting their job prospects in the future.

To sum up, the difficulties graduates encounter in securing employment stem from fierce competition and a lack of practical experience. However, by offering robust career development programs and fostering stronger ties with industry partners, educational institutions can better prepare students for the workforce. I believe that through these solutions, graduates can overcome the challenges present in today’s dynamic job market.

The question of one-size-fits-all approach in a retirement age has become a topic of ongoing debate. Moreover, workers with physically demanding occupation and high-stress environment should have an early retirement. […]

In many urban areas, planners tend to arrange shops, schools, offices, and homes in specific areas and separate them from one another. Do the benefits of this trend outweigh its drawbacks?

In numerous urban areas, city planners often adopt zoning policies that separate shops, schools, offices and homes into distinct districts rather than integrating them into a single mixed-use area. Even though this policy may seem to create unnecessary distance between different aspects of daily life, its advantages must be considered more relevant. As opposed to […]
