Though, some countries are increasing this limit from their current threshold, increasing age limit may keep active workers in work and thus giving better economic support in the older ages, they have negative consequences on yournger age group.
People working at the later ages may use their work experience in the services and gain economic benefits in return. This will keep them active physically and mentally in one hand and also allow them to continue suppoorting their family on the other. At the same time, due to the increasing medical and health teachnology and supports, the life expectancy of people around the world has increased, leading to a longer life of people than earlier. On the contratray, people are paid most in their later part of the job. Keeping them in the job will require more money to pay. At the same time, the job market is also very competative. Extending the work period of the already employed employees in the job will block new recruitment. While these new minds are better in education and technology, and can adapt to new paradigm of fast chaning world with higher energy than people from earlier generations, they will fail to enter into the service due to the extention of the already employed workers.
So, it is clear from the above discussion that, though extending the age of retirement may bring some benefits to the workers, they are not good for overall development and economics. Thus, more support to older people can given rather extending their work life.
