Nowadays, many parents put too much pressure on their children to be successful. There are some reasons for this situation. In my opinion, this is a negative development because it can cause stress and make children unhappy.
One reason why parents put pressure on their children is that they want them to have a good future. Parents believe that if their children get high marks and enter a good university, they can get a good job and earn more money. Another reason is that parents sometimes compare their children with other children. For example, when their friends’ children get better grades, they may expect their own children to do the same. Also, some parents want their children to achieve things that they could not achieve themselves.
However, I think this is mostly a negative development. First, too much pressure can make children feel stressed and tired. They may spend many hours studying and have little time to relax or play with friends. This can affect their mental health. Second, children may become afraid of making mistakes because they think their parents will be disappointed. As a result, they may lose confidence and interest in studying.
In conclusion, parents put pressure on their children mainly because they want them to have a successful future and because they compare them with others. Although parents have good intentions, I believe that too much pressure is negative because it can cause stress and unhappiness.
