The issue of commuting time to work or school has been longer than in the past. In my opinion, there are two reasons behind this trend and we can have some potential solutions to improve the transportation infrastructure to mitigate this problem.

This results in longer time for commuters to move through crowded streets. Another reason is that most of good school and high-quality companies are in the city center, however the rent housing cost are often high that requires many individuals need to find affordable housing options in other neighborhood, which lead to take much time to travel from their house to their workplaces or educational institutions.
To mitigate this issue, there are some solutions that can be implemented. Government can encourage citizens using the public transportation as an affordable alternative solution instead of using their own vehicles. This might minimize the traffic jam, reduce an increase of carbon dioxide helping protect the environment. Moreover, the government should invest in improving transportation infrastructures such as widening roads, building more highways, thereby reducing commuting times. Another solution is that company or school can have online options, that can allow employees or students to work and study remotely from their home, thus can diminish daily commuting and provide flexibility to have work-life balance.
