Band 6+: Many people argue that modern lifestyles are having a negative impact on the environment. This is because people consume excessive amounts of natural resources and produce large quantities of waste that cannot be easily recycled. What are the causes of this problem and what measures can be taken to address it?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

It is widely believed that modern lifestyles have negative influences on the environment. This happens because of widespread overconsumption, such as excessive use of natural resources, which leads to large amounts of waste that sometimes cannot be biodegrated. Governments should address this matter by restricting the use of signle-use products and limit plastic consumption.

The main reason why modern lifestyles cause harfmul effects on the environment is the prevelance of overconsumption. Individuals nowadays are encouraged to purchase more frequently than necessary. This increases the demand for natural resources and puts more pressure on manufacturers. Furthermore, this increased consumption contributes to the accumulation of non-recyclable waste. For instance, high demand on online shopping increases the demand for addtional packaging, which only exacerbates the amount of waste. As a result, environmental damage is caused by the reduction of natural reserves and the waste that pollutes the earth and waters as they are not able to be recycled.

States should address the issue of recent lifestyles’ detrimential effects on environment by implementing restrictions on the use of non-resusable items and regulating the amount of plastic. Businesess should be encouraged to use alternatives that have no harfmul impact on the environment and nature or replace plastic with its recycling options. For example, if companies would use alternatives instead of plastic, the amount of non-recycling waste would deacrese significantly. As a result, this would reduce the amount of non-biodegradable waste entering lands and natural ecosystems.

In conclusion, the majority of individuals believe that the negative influence on the environment is caused by modern lifestyles. This happens because of prevelance for overconsumption, people excessively consume natural resources, which leads to generation of large quantities of waste. State authorities sould tackle this issue by prohibiting the use of single-use products and regulating the amount of plastic.
